President
Elizabeth Nguyen

Elizabeth “Liz” Nguyen is pursuing her Masters of Science in Agricultural Education in hopes to become a high school agricultural educator. Her passion for the Vietnamese community is the driving force of her involvement in Southwest UVSA. She hopes to bridge connections between members across the states and grow and harvest the leaders of tomorrow. Liz has an odd obsession with the small Stitch tsum tsum, claiming it to be “Stitch’s World Domination”. As a hobby, she enjoys photography and playing with her puppy, Reno.

1. The president shall ensure that the organization operates in conformity with the principles set forth in this Constitution.
2. Presides over general meetings and officer meetings.
3. Appoints all Junior Officers (with approval of the officers) along with the Executive Board.
4. Revises the Supplementary to the Constitution by September 31st of each year. It should reflect the needs and goals of the new year.
5. Delegate responsibilities.
6. Set goals for the officers and for the organization.

Internal Vice-President
Jenny La

Jenny La is pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her passion for the Vietnamese community grew from her involvement with the Vietnamese Student Association after she started college. She sees a lot of potential in young individuals within the community and hopes to cultivate future leaders by igniting their passion and excitement. Jenny played the violin from the 4th grade until the 12th grade and she likes to stay active by going on long walks with her dog, hiking, or running.

1. Second-in-command at the request of, or during the absence of, the President.
2. Shall be voted in through the organization’s constituents and made the Regional Representative of the Southwest to the Union of North American Vietnamese Student Associations (UNAVSA).
3. Will spearhead projects that involve collaboration events, projects, and activities.
4. Serves as the main communicator of all VSA’s in partnership with SWUVSA

External Vice-President
John Tran

John Tran is currently a senior at the University of Colorado Boulder pursuing a degree in Ethnic Studies, and is hoping to obtain a career in the healthcare field in the future. His involvement with VSA began his freshman year in college when VSA Boulder became his 2nd family and he became the culture show coordinator that year. Some of his SWUVSA and UNAVSA involvement includes: Southwest UVSA CPP Chair, UNAVSA-13 Entertainment committee, CPP Campaign Team, and currently co-CORR for the Southwest region. He believes in the power that Southwest UVSA has and how it can cultivate and nurture the next generation of young Vietnamese youth leaders. Some fun facts, he plays 6 different instruments, enjoys traveling and eating at the same time, and is a huge fan of corgis.

4. Along with the Executive Board spearhead PR related projects
5. Carry communications with other external orgs not directly involved with VSA’s across campuses who are members, as well as, the greater Vietnamese Community in the extended partnerships with SWUVSA.

Treasurer

Brian Truong

Brian Tánh Truong is pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the University of Utah. His initial involvement with the Vietnamese American Student Association (VASA) at the U of U fostered his passion for the Vietnamese community. He hopes to inspire members to take on the challenge of a leadership position within their VSA/VASA or SWUVSA. He enjoys being adventurous and being outdoors. Some of his favorite hobbies includes hiking, running, and eating. His favorite words are “beach” and “xe đạp”.

1. Maintains a detailed documentation and prudently monitors accrued expenses, bank balances, reserves, and all sources and uses of funds.
2. Oversees the usage of all VSA money and property.
3. Maintains a statement of income and expenditures to be held accountable at all times to the officers and members upon request.
4. Organizes and files all VSA documents concerning the treasury.
5. Periodically updates the VSA inventory.
